High Lonesome Mountain River Coal Train
Performing together since 2013, High Lonesome
Mountain River Coal Train are
Congaree Bluegrass Band Champions. Well known for their
perfomrances at Bill's Pickin' Parlor, they are usually the first band
to open "Open Stage," and from their first note, it's evident they enjoy
playing. They jokingly say their band's name is so long because,
"...they always wanted to be a member of a BIG NAME BAND!" Bill's
Pickin' Parlor has long been our state's epicenter for performing bands,
and all of these musicians met each other there.
Some of their recent venues include The Mast
General Store in Columbia, Lone Star in Sumter, and numerous
private parties. Band members are Melissa Washburn singing lead
and playing bass (which is much bigger than she is), Ben Wooten on Dobro
and lead vocals, Reese Wooten on banjo, Keith Crout on guitar, and Jim
Graddick on fiddle. All together, they make up that "Big Name
Band"!
